Hi Ciaragrimesxox! Rain is the way in which the earth recycles water. It is an improtant part of something called the ‘water cycle’. Rain runs into rivers and streams which go into lakes and eventually into the sea. The majority of rain clouds are formed out at sea when the sun evapourates sea water. These then get blown over land, produce rain and the whole process starts again! Without rain all the life on land that needs water to survive would die out. Thanks for your question.

      Hi ciaragrimesxox!

Without rain our planet would look totally different! There would be no soil, because rocks wouldn’t break up and erode. There’d be no life on land, which would also mean that things living in the sea would have less to eat. And the sea wouldn’t be salty, because all the minerals on salt would be on land and wouldn’t have been washed to sea in the first place! The climate would be very different too, with very strong winds flowing from the sea to the land because land would be much hotter if it’s all dry rock with no trees, and air would heat up over land and rise fast.

      It would be really strange!

      🙂 Sarah
