      Hi kayleigh99,
Well actually they can do! I used to have a cat and a dog that used to sleep in the same bed together!
But this is probably because they have always been in competition with each other in the wild. For example wolves and lions may be hunting in the same areas so they would try to avoid each other or they might end up fighting over food and good places to sleep or raise their babies.

Oh they do if they know they are not a threat to one another. In the wild they compete over food but domestic animals now don’t have that problem so can get along just fine. It comes down to personality then.

      Hi kayleigh99!

They sometimes do – it depends on whether cats and dogs can overcome their instincts that they are rivals that have to fight over the prey they have hunted. If they grow up together sometimes they don’t think of each other as different animals! I knew a cat and a dog that had lived on a sailing boat since they were a puppy and a kitten, and the kitten thought it was a dog, and it used to jump over board when they anchored and swim ashore together with the dog and run around on the beach with it!

      🙂 Sarah
