      Hi itssmeemayaa!

Because water is oxygen stuck to two hydrogens (H2O) that don’t come off easily, but our lungs are used to just picking oxygen pairs (O2) out of a mix of gasses and transporting it away for use on red blood cells. We simply can’t detach the hydrogen!

      🙂 Sarah
