      Hi ciaralydon,

That really depends on the sea creatures! 🙂
Many types of female fish lay lots of eggs while the males often just release their sperm in the water in the hope that the two meet one day! That method obviously has huge losses and they have to start off with millions of eggs and hope some get fertilised and make it through.
Octopodes build nests in little caves and hang their eggs on the ceiling and tend them very carefully. Sea horse females lay eggs, which the male pops in a pocket on its tummy until they hatch – a little like a cangaroo! Dolphins and whales on the other hand are mammals who have babies grow in their mummy’s tummy just like us – and give birth!

      🙂 Sarah
