Very excited, in fact when I got my first result I exposed the X-ray film till it was just about to be perfect. I did not sleep that day, and left 8AM in the morning. It was the best experience I ever had so far.

Hi Zaina! I was very very scared! I was in a big, shiny, white biochemistry lab, with lots of things that looked like they were very easy to break, and I had been asked to prepare DNA for an experiment, which I’d never done before. But the second day was great, because it all turned out well and I didn’t break anything!

I was very nervous on the 1st day of my phd which is when I guess I started being a scientist. I didn’t really know what to expect and had to meet lots of new people, but at the same time I was very excited and keen to learn lots of new things.

Hi Zaina. I was excited and scared! It was a great feeling to be in a proper science lab doing important work, but at the same time there was the pressure to do the work well, get good results and try not to break anything, which was very scary!

I was very excited but a little nervous too! I had just moved to a different country so there were so many different experiences for me. I was lucky to be starting with 5 other people on the same course as me so we helped each other a lot. When I walked into a lab for the first time I was very worried about doing something wrong, but I had a great teacher who made me feel like I belonged 🙂
