HI Ethan! I love your questions today! I try and make sure that most of the chemicals I use do not explode and I have to fill in lots of health and saftey forms before I do any experiments. But sometimes it is necessery to use dangerous chemicals, because nothing else will work! The most dangerous chemical I have used is something called ‘Butyl Lithium’. It is very very reactive and highly flammable. It will even react with air! So I have to be very careful when I take it out of its bottle or it will catch fire. When I use it my friend has to stand next to me with a fire extinguisher incase it goes wrong. If it reacts with somthing that produces lots of gas in a small flask then it can sometimes explode.
