• Question: Hi, do you think there are permanent & efficient cures for diseases like HIV - or is there any cures for them?

      Hi zgstar19,

      I worked for an HIV charity three years ago. At the moment there are no cures at all – so people never get fully rid of the virus – only medicines that will stop it getting worse for a long time. There are lots of clever people working on cures though, but so far it’s been very difficult to find one!
      I do hope we will though.

      Hiya – at the moment now – no proper cure – but as sarah says there are lots of drugs that can slow the progress of the disesae. But there are lots of researchers working in this area and slowly making progress.
