Hi again miafairy! I have never looked into a dead body, but I have worked on pieces of brain a surgeon gave me after an operation on a brain tumour. We waited until after six operations on six different patients, and then looked at how the cancer had changed the cells. It was really interesting, and we can use the results to help the surgeons help people recover faster after the brain surgery.
I really love watching Silent Witness on telly! Do you? And I’ve signed up to be an organ donor when I die, so my organs can be used to help heal other people. So maybe I’ll be cut open one day!
No I’ve never looked into a dead person. I once had a chance for a tour of the labs that medical students use to examine dead people who have donated thier bodies to science but I chickened out of going. I serisouly thought about doing foresnsics for a while but decided I didn’t think I’d cope with the dead person aspect of the job.
Hi miafairy,
No I have never looked at dead people, but sometimes if one of my mice or rats dies suddenly then I will do a quick post-mortem with a vet to see if we can find out what happened.
I also study some brains of people who had Alzheimer’s disease to see if I can find out more about the disease which is cool 🙂
I think different fish can reproduce in different ways but for most the females lay a batch of eggs and then the males squirt them with sperm and they are then left to fend for themselves. Some fish will give birth to liveborn young. Hope that helps.
