Yes, the amount of sleep I get definitely affects my work! When I haven’t had enough sleep, it takes me a lot longer to do any experiments & I have to be very careful not to make any mistakes.
I am actually a very bad sleeper, I usually get only about 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night. This is because I often suffer from a type of insomnia where I have trouble staying asleep so I wake up around 3 or 4 times a night. It is very frustrating, and usually occurs when I am worried or stressed about something. I listen to the radio at night as this helps me fall back to sleep once I wake up, but I wouldn’t recommend this as it often stops people from getting to sleep!
All people are different, and therefore some people need more or less sleep than others but I think it is recommended to get at least 7 hours of good sleep a night. Especially if you have to work the next day!
Hi eirlys. Yes like Amy the amount and quality of the work I do depends very much on how much sleep I get the night before. I usually find that about 7 hours is best for me. Surprisingly if I sleep for more than 8 hours im more tired than if I only have a few hours!
Absolutely! I love sleeping. I sleep for 8 hours, and much less than that makes me very tired after lunch, and quite grumpy! But if I sleep for 10 hours or more I can make up for some shorter nights. I once slept for 17 hours – 3pm to 8am – when I was a student!
Most deifinitely – I also think that really young children who don’t get enough sleep are more likely to misbehave. I get betwee 8 and 10hours a night and I get very grumpy if I don;t get enough.

Thank you for your reply! I often listen to music to send me to sleep.
