• Question: Do plants die of old age?

      Hi meg,

      Yes they do! Many plants are annuals, they only live for one summer, make seeds which keep in the ground over the autumn, germinate in spring and flower again in the summer! Others live for 2 years called biennials, and others are perennial and live for many years.
      I’ve visited the oldest plant in Europe – it’s a yew tree in Scotland, and might be 5000 year old!

      Here it is, in the Fortingall church yard!
