• Question: Why do cats cough up hairballs?

      Hi olivia13,

      Because it’s better for them to cough them up than to try and digest them and end up with a blocked gut! Hairballs get into their tummys when they eat whole mice, which are quite fiddly to separate into meat and fur and bones, but also when they lick themselves clean they can’t help but swallow a little fur.

      Do you have a cat?
