Question: Whats the lowest recorded temperature?

Hi Meg. The lowest temperature ever recorded naturally is – 89.2 oC in Russia, but the lowest temperature that has been achieved with special equiptment is – 272 oC, by scientists at MIT which is just above absolute zero (0 Kelvin) which is the lowest theroretical temperature anything can ever be and it has absolutely no energy of any kind!

wow thanks will! does liquid nitrogen have the temperature only achieved by special equipment?

No liquid nitrogen is only – 196! Although it does take some pretty cool (ha! sorry) equipment to make liquid nitrogen. Not sure how they achieved -272 though.

Nitrogen that is cold enough for the gas to condense into a liquid
